Eric and I try to get away alone together as often as our busy schedules permit. (I know that sounds funny because he works at home and we sit at computers about 12 feet apart from each other every single day, but that's not important right now.)
Sometimes our getaway means an actual weekend away, but more often than not it's just a few hours where we get to be together and reconnect.
The Date Rules state that "it's all about having fun together."
Of course, we do the dinner-and-a-movie thing. But sometimes it will be dinner-and-a-parade-and fireworks, which is where our Disneyland passes come in.=D
And no, I don't usually document our dates, but this last one made me wish I had my camera along. (Grateful for phone cameras that night!)
We went to The Fun Zone on Balboa Island.
The Fun Zone! Doesn't that just sound like it's full of promise? Originally built in 1936 it includes arcades and ice cream and a ferry and a ferris wheel. Fun for all!
First we drove our car onto the Balboa Ferry. I swear I am so easily amused. "The Ferry! I love the Ferry!" (It's like a 6 minute ride, but that's not important right now, either.)
There are old school arcade games like Skee Ball (my favorite because I totally rock at it. =D)
And Air Hockey, which I also won. 7 to 5. See that scoreboard behind us and the look of consternation on my husband's face that tells the entire story?
We bowled and whacked-a-mole and shot baskets and won prizes and laughed and laughed and laughed.
Of course we also sat in the photo booth (this is a Mandatory Fun Zone Activity - ask my kids).
Ride on the Balboa Ferry - $3.50.
Fun Zone Games - (a roll of quarters) $10.00.
Silly Photo Booth Photo - $3.00.
Reconnecting with my husband - PRICELESS. ;-)
WAY. TOO. CUTE. Miami has no Fun Zone in Balboa Island. Arcades, yes. Arcade plus ice cream plus ferry, negative.
PS the photo booth is always a must. :) Glad you had fun!

I. Heart. the Balboa Ferry! But, it's $3.50 now??!?!? I remember when it was like a dime or quarter. Crazy! I'm dating myself. Which isn't the same as a date with myself. But I digress. I am sure somewhere I have photos from that photobooth with old friends/roommates, from like the 80s (!). But they are in a box along with many of my other photos in a storage unit in Virginia. Sigh.

It's all about enjoying the date with your husband.
